Quebec Premier Pauline Marois announced on Monday that the Quebec government will be investing in Montreal’s Museum of Contemporary Art.

The plan is to double the building in size, since the museum currently owns more than 1,700 works of art but only has enough space to display less than 2 per cent of them.

In an attempt to help make a little extra room, the Premier said the government will invest just over half a million dollars to draft a business plan for the expansion of the space.

The museum's expansion is expected to be completed by 2017.

This announcement comes as one of 85 that the government is set to make throughout the week, in what has been widely viewed as a potential pre-election blitz.

The majority of the announcements will be made in central Quebec and Mauricie areas.
