The first poll since the April 7 election is out and the news remains bleak for the Parti Quebecois.

The Leger poll for newspaper Le Devoir shows PQ support continues to slip, down to only 19 per cent. Among francophones, that number is 23 per cent.

Overall, the poll, taken May 7 and 8, puts the PQ in third place, behind the CAQ.

The PQ won 25 per cent of the vote in the April 7 election.

As for the party's future leader, Former Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe received the most support at 26 per cent, while PQ MP Pierre Karl Peladeau received 21 per cent.

Other would-be contenders, such as Bernard Drainville and Jean-Francois Lisee fall far behind.
