Longueuil police are searching a wooded area full of hiking trails following the discovery of two bodies.

A passerby called police shortly before 11 p.m. Monday to report the bodies lying side by side on Des Prairies Rd. about 25 metres from the road, near the entrance to some hiking trails.

"These two bodies were male and one being in his early twenties," said Longueuil police officer Jean-Pierre Voutsinos.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and brought the men to hospital where the deaths were confirmed.

So far police have confirmed both men were shot, that one of the men was 21 years old, and that the other victim was 23.

The families of both men have been notified, and police are not yet revealing their names. Police said, however, that the men were not related, but did know each other. According to investigators, neither victim had a criminal record.

"At this point the investigation has just started. There has been a search going on during the night and there's going to be another search party put together with a greater area being searched today," said Voutsinos.

About 15 police officers walked examined the area in the morning, being joined by a Sureté du Quebec canine squad around 11:30 a.m.

Police are asking anyone who spotted something unusual to call 9-1-1 to relay their tips, or to call 450-463-7211.

“You might even think that the information possessed is not even good, but just dial 911 and let us deal with that information because it could be crucial,” said Voutsinos.
