MONTREAL - A man was arraigned Friday in connection with a home invasion in Notre Dame de Grace on Wednesday where the suspect allegedly tied up his victims and forced one of them to drive to a bank machine to withdraw money for him.
Dominik Angeli-Grou, 24, was arraigned in Quebec Court on charges of breaking and entering, kidnapping, three counts of forcible confinement, gun possession, using a gun to commit a crime, armed robbery and wearing a disguise.
The incident happened late Tuesday evening in NDG, when a man was able to convince residents living on Belmore Ave. near Terrebonne St. to let him inside.
"This is really rare, this kind of home invasion," Montreal police Const. Simon Delorme said Wednesday. "We take this case really seriously and we're going to put all the resources necessary to try to find out the criminal."
Once inside the home the man pulled out a gun and threatened a man and a woman in their 50s and the man's son.
He tied up the trio, then took the older man at gunpoint and ordered him to drive to an ATM to get cash.
The victim drove his car to Victoria St. and Sherbrooke St. in Westmount, then parked in the alley behind the Royal Bank and used the ATM.
Once the suspect had the cash in hand he fled on foot.
Police are not confirming the identities of the victims, but CTV has confirmed the home is owned by Eric Goldberg.
His father is the owner of Lou Goldberg Jewellers on Greene Ave. in Westmount.
Police are not saying if this was a random crime or if the Goldbergs were deliberately targeted.
