Montreal police arrested several men overnight for brandishing what appeared to be firearms.

The first incident took place around 1 a.m. at the corner of Ste. Catherine St. and University in the downtown core.

Police pulled over the car and arrested the occupants because they spotted one person holding a gun.

It turned out to be a pellet gun, so the men were released without charges.

Then two hours later near Lafontaine park, another group of men were arrested for waving a gun around.

This time the people were shaking a gun toward other drivers.

Police stopped these people and determined the handgun was plastic. Regardless the men were arrested and may face charges.
