Individual on tracks disrupts afternoon service on O-Train Line 1

OC Transpo says an individual on the O-Train Line 1 tracks caused delays for passengers Friday afternoon.

A train near Bayview Station engaged its emergency brake when the individual was spotted at around 3:20 p.m. and all trains on the line were held for approximately 15 minutes.

The stopped train near Bayview was unable to continue service, however, and had to be removed from the system, an OC Transpo spokesperson said in an email to CTV News Ottawa.

"During this time, train service continued between Lyon and Blair stations and a shuttle train ran between Tunney’s Pasture and Lyon stations," the email said. "Passengers were safely transferred from the train at Bayview Station to continue their trips."

Service at Bayview, Pimisi, and Lyon were on the westbound platforms only during that time, according to an alert from OC Transpo.

The individual eventually left the tracks of their own accord.

Full service resumed at around 4:30 p.m.
