The famous Red Nose program to take tipsy drivers home safely begins Friday night in Quebec.

Last year 44,000 volunteers for what is known in Quebec as Operation Nez Rouge brought nearly 63,000 people home after a late night out.

That's six percent more trips than the previous year.

Spokesperson Aurelie Levy said that the only goal for 2012 is to make sure "no person gets behind the wheel of their car while impaired."

This year's program is longer than other years, running from Nov. 30 until New Year's Eve.

People in Montreal who need a ride can call 1-866-DESJARDINS (1-866-337-5273), 514-256-2510 or *639 from their cell phone.
