• Montreal police arrest alleged bike thief, recover over $20K in stolen bicycles

  Montreal police (SPVM) arrested a 24-year-old man and recovered over $20,000 in bikes, clothing and other items, in connection with a string of bicycle thefts. The SPVM said in a news release that Alexandre Lavasseur was arrested May 24 and appeared in court on 18 counts of breaking and entering.

• 8 suspicious car fires in 2 locations overnight: Montreal police

  Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating back-to-back sets of suspicious car fires early Thursday morning. The first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the Lachine borough, where four vehicles burned in a commercial parking lot. Less than an hour later, officers responded to a similar event in the Saint-Laurent borough, where another four vehicles burned.

  A 50-year-old man is in critical condition early Thursday morning after he was beaten in Montreal's west end a few hours earlier.

• Armed suspect wanted in Stoke, Que. arrested; public advisory lifted

  Early Thursday morning, Quebec provincial police announced that the armed and dangerous suspect sought in the Stoke area of Quebec's Eastern Townships was arrested.

• Quebec man, 87, charged in 1980s child sex assaults

  An 87-year-old Quebec man has been charged with multiple sexual assaults, 30 years later. Maurice Julien is accused of sexually abusing boys between 1986 and 1989 while involved in a "youth movement" in L'Islet, a riverside town about 100 kilometres northeast of Quebec City.

• 3 arrests in fatal Christmas Eve shooting of teen: Montreal

  Three suspects were arrested Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in the Town of Mount Royal (TMR) two years ago. Two suspects, both 20-year-old men, will appear in court Wednesday to face charges of second-degree murder. A 20-year-old woman was also apprehended and is expected to be charged with accessory to murder.

  Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating another suspicious car fire, this time one that occurred Wednesday morning in the Saint-Michel district.

• Man stabbed in downtown Montreal; family member arrested

  A 42-year-old man was stabbed and injured early Wednesday morning in downtown Montreal. Police (SPVM) believe the suspect, a 23-year-old man, is related to the victim.

• Driver who crashed into Montreal bus shelter dies in hospital

  The driver of the vehicle that crashed into a Montreal bus shelter on Friday has died. Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed on Tuesday that the 21-year-old driver, who was in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries.

• Montreal police investigate fire involving two cars early Tuesday morning

  Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating yet another suspicious fire. Two cars parked in front of a commercial building in Montreal East were engulfed in flames in the middle of the night on Tuesday.
