Police still trying to ID one of the victims of Hwy. 63 crash

Police in North Bay are still trying to identify one of the two people killed in a head-on collision with a tanker truck Monday morning.

The incident took place around 8 a.m. on Highway 63, near Highway 533, Ontario Provincial Police said.

“The two occupants of the passenger vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver of the CMV was uninjured,” the OPP said.

“Post-mortem examinations are scheduled for Jan. 16 … in Sudbury. Identification efforts are ongoing for one of the victims.”

Police haven’t yet revealed the sequence of events leading to the tragedy, or whether charges are being considered as a result of the crash.
