$65K of suspected crystal meth seized in Cochrane

A 38-year-old Cochrane resident is facing several charges following a massive drug bust in the community on Thursday.

A local man has been charged following a drug bust in Cochrane, Ont., on Thursday morning.

At about 9:30 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police said they executed a search warrant at a residence on Thirteenth Avenue and one individual was arrested.

“Police seized drugs suspected to be crystal methamphetamine,” OPP said in a news release.

“Police also seized a cell phone, a digital scale, and a small amount of Canadian currency.”

Officials said the estimated street value of the drugs seized is $65,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old local man was charged with drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
