MONTREAL - Dominque Dion, one of the owners of Zero8 restaurant, was an innocent bystander caught up in Saturday night's intense protests.

He was getting ready to close his restaurant shortly after fires were set on the corner of St. Denis and Ontario streets.

People wanted to leave the area, especially after they saw the fire department leave, but they had nowhere to go.

Dion, who supports the student protesters, decided to do what he could to help.

"Let's bring customers into our restaurant," said Dion. "Then we told people to evacuate the terrasse."

The incident ended with police coming into the restaurant and arresting Dion and another person.

"Some people may have lost control of the situation," said Dion.

He was released without charges several hours later.
