Max joined CTV Montreal in late 2012 after eight years of reporting at The Montreal Gazette. He covered some of the city’s biggest stories, including the 2006 Dawson College shooting, several provincial and federal elections from the parties’ campaign buses as well as the nightly student protests in 2012. He also met the Dalai Lama and covered the final launch of the space shuttle in Florida in 2011.

His first real job in the business was as a reporter for The Montreal Daily News in the late 1980s. His assignments included the police beat.

He was a researcher for CBC TV and radio in Montreal before heading to New York City to do his Master’s at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Max lived in N.Y.C. for seven years and in Los Angeles for six years before returning to his native Montreal in 2003. During his time in the U.S. he reported for People Magazine, several local weekly newspapers, and was a film magazine columnist and managing editor of a weekly magazine and two quarterly magazines.

A graduate of Polyvalente des Sources, Dawson College and McGill University, Max was CTV Montreal’s Quebec City Bureau Chief until June 2015. He is keen to be back in his hometown, working as part of the news-gathering team and helping to shape each day’s show.
