Annie DeMelt, Weekend Anchor, CTV NEWS MONTREAL
Annie DeMelt serves as Weekend Anchor for CTV Montreal, delivering comprehensive news updates for the city’s most-watched English-language station.
DeMelt is a familiar face to Montreal viewers, having joined CTV Montreal as a reporter in 2003. Before being appointed to her current role in December 2018, she served as a reporter for weekday editions of CTV NEWS AT FIVE.
Over her 15-year career, she has covered a range of important stories, from the shootings at the Quebec City mosque to the one at the Metropolis, where Pauline Marois was celebrating her historic election night win. DeMelt also produced the Forbidden Montreal series, for which she combined her keen interest in Montreal’s history with her passion for storytelling.
DeMelt's broadcasting career began on the biggest news day of the century; her first day in a newsroom was Sept. 11, 2001. For almost two years, DeMelt was a researcher, then a reporter for Global TV in her hometown of Quebec City. She then moved to Montreal for a brief stint at TVA before joining CTV Montreal.
What DeMelt enjoys most about the news is having the opportunity to tell people's stories and bear witness to significant moments that shape our world.
Born in Quebec City, DeMelt has studied at McGill University and Laval University. She enjoys running, painting, and traveling, and is a former Parks Canada guide, having worked on Grosse Ile, the former quarantine station for immigrants to Canada. She is also a certified Quebec City tour guide.
