MONTREAL—Two weeks after a massive industrial explosion tore through a Sherbrooke factory, the City of Montreal will test emergency sirens in the east end on Tuesday afternoon.

Sirens at Cepsa and Chemtrade, two chemical plants near Montreal’s refinery district, will sound for three minutes starting at 3:15 p.m. to simulate the warning in case of a release of toxic gas. The sirens should be heard within a 1.5 kilometre radius of the plants.

The local population is asked not to take any precautionary measures during the test.
