Share

Above-seasonal temperatures opened the gates to 2025.

The normal daytime high for the start of January in the Montreal area is -5 C. However, this New Year’s Day brought an expected high of 3 C.

Though Montrealers will want to be prepared for morning rain that is expected to turn to snow by night. Roughly 5 centimetres of snow could hit the ground by Wednesday evening.

A low of -1 C is to come Wednesday night before a daytime high of 1 C and an added 0.5 centimetres of snow on Thursday.

Cloudy skies and a daytime high of -5 C is expected Friday, as the mercury moves down to end the week.

While the Montreal area will see varying mixes of sun and cloud from Saturday through Tuesday, it may be wise to have your deep winter gear on deck.

Daytime highs of -10 C and -11 C are expected for Saturday and Sunday and nighttime temperatures will be even colder. Evening lows of -14 C are expected barring the wind chill.
