Matt Gilmour joined CTV Montreal as a video journalist in 2019.

He has a special passion for stories concerning the environment and climate change but admits he also can’t resist a juicy political scandal or a Habs victory party that goes a little overboard (although it has been a minute).

Matt moved to Montreal from Vancouver in 2009 to study Political Science and Business Management at McGill University, where he was also the starting goalkeeper on the Varsity Soccer team.

He fell in love with journalism at Concordia University, and in 2016, won the Gordon Fisher Prize for most outstanding Graduate Student in the Journalism Diploma Program.

While at Concordia, Matt was part of the team behind the award-winning investigative series ‘Price of Oil’, which examined the hidden costs of Canada’s oil industry.

Before moving to CTV Montreal, Matt was a reporter/producer at CJAD 800, where he woke up far too early, and covered everything from city hall to spring floods.
