LAVAL- A 42-year-old man was murdered early Saturday morning in the Chomedey district of Laval. He was known to the police.
The man was shot several times at about 2:20 a.m., as he was parking his vehicle behind the apartment building where he lived, at 5212 Samson Blvd.
The victim was able to move to the front of the building before he collapsed.
No arrests have been made so far.
This is the first murder in Laval this year.
According to Laval police, the man had ties to street gangs.
They say they are investigating a possible link between that shooting and Friday's shooting in the parking lot of the Galeries d'Anjou, because they had similar modi operandi and may have involved street gangs.
Due to the possible link to organized crime, the Laval case has been transferred to the Surete du Quebec.
Laval police spokesperson Nathalie Lorrain said investigators believe someone was waiting for the victim.
“We think it was probably the settling of accounts between gangs or something like that,” Lorrain of told CTV Montreal.
The 42-year-old man had just parked his car in a parking lot behind his home. He was shot as he was exiting the car.
“My daughter, she was sleeping in the front room and she says she heard two shots,” one female neighbour said.
Police are looking into a possible connection between that shooting and the Galeries d'Anjou shooting Friday night.
