Laval mayoral candidate Claire Le Bel says the past week has been difficult, especially with the twists and turns involving her campaign manager.

Last week Le Bel, leader of Option Laval revealed that she had been contacted by former Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt who offered to finance her campaign.

She recorded the conversation during her meeting with Vaillancourt and turned it over to police, and opponents have since said that Le Bel was acting not from any sense of ethics, but solely out of a desire to get media attention during a political campaign.

Meanwhile her campaign manager, who said he had been attacked on Highway 15 after Le Bel's revelations, is being investigated by police for allegedly making up his account of being assaulted.

Le Bel said she can only wait for the truth to come out.

"I'm waiting, like everyone is waiting, for the results of the investigation," said Le Bel.

Meanwhile the campaign in Laval continues apace, with Le Bel campaigning against four other candidates to replace the disgraced Vaillancourt.
