Police have searched a high school in Lachute after getting reports of an armed individual.
They arrested two male students, both minors, and seized a harmless replica weapon.
Polyvalente Lavigne was evacuated around noon and all 700 students were sheltered nearby as officers from the Sureté du Quebec went through the building to ensure that everything was secure.
The Polivalent Lavigne and Laurentian Regional High School of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board share a building. Student of that school were also forced to stay inside the building for the duration of the police search.
Police have told parents that no child was in any danger, and that no threats have been made.
The school board has prepared a communiqué that will be sent home to parents, but did not speak to the media.
Any charges against the boys will be determined by Crown prosecutors.
