Mark Lafleur, the troubled son of hockey legend Guy Lafleur, will not serve jail time.

He has been sentenced to 15 months for 23 charges including forcible confinement, aggravated assault and armed assault.

He will serve six months under 24-hour house arrest, with the rest to be served with a strict curfew. This will be followed by three years probation.

During the sentence, he will be allowed to see his therapist, his probation officer and go to work if he has a legitimate job.

The crown was asking for five years, and the defence was asking for a suspended sentence.

The judge said he had seen changes in Lafleur's behaviour, and granted him a lighter sentence.

Charges

Thirteen of those charges stemmed from a relationship with a girl from the time she was 14-year-old until she was 16. Lafleur was 19-years-old when she was 14.

She was at the courthouse this morning, and she was not happy.

"Honestly, no matter what, it is never going to change what he did to me," she told reporters. She cannot be named due to her age at the time of the offences.

His father, hockey legend Guy Lafleur, was also dragged into the courts last year for allowing his son to sleep at a hotel with his girlfriend when he had told the courts he would ensure the younger Lafleur would respect his court-imposed conditions.

Lafleur Sr. told reporters at the courthouse that Mark had maturity issues, and that in spite of the best efforts of him and his wife, Mark still needed time to grow up.
