SHERBROOKE – A man who was questioned Saturday in connection with a fatal hit and run has been released.
No charges will be brought against him, at least at this stage of the investigation, said police.
A 19-year-old woman was found dead and a 20-year-old was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Sherbrooke. The driver then fled the scene. The victims were found on the roadside by a passerby on Prospect St. in the northern part of the city.
The younger of the two victims, Roxanne Bouffard-Cyr, died. The other young woman is in serious condition.
Sherbrooke police thought they had found the offending vehicle in a parking lot north of the city. The owner, however, was considered a 'material witness.' He was met with, then released.
