Man injured in Longueuil home invasion in the presence of a child
A Longueuil resident was injured during a home invasion early Saturday morning in the presence of a child.
Three suspects broke into the home on Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Boulevard in the Saint-Hubert borough at around 12:45 a.m.
According to initial information from the Longueuil police (SPAL), a man in his 50s was hit with a bladed weapon.
“He suffered injuries but was not taken to hospital,” said SPAL spokesperson Constable Mélanie Mercille. “A woman in her 50s and a child were also present at the scene. Fortunately, they were not injured.”
The suspects left the scene after stealing money and the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was quickly recovered by the police.
“The suspects may have wanted to target another person,” said Mercille.
SPAL launched an investigation and a perimeter was set up to protect the crime scene.
The suspects, who fled the scene, have not been arrested.
Any information about them can be communicated to police on the Info-Azimut line at (450) 646-8500 or online at www.longueuil.quebec/fr/info-azimut .
