MONTREAL--A 45-year-old man is fighting for his life after being stabbed downtown overnight.

Police said a dispute between the victim and a 37-year-old man ocurred at 11:45 p.m. at the corner of Ste-Catherine and De Buillon. The suspect fled on foot after stabbing the victim, and was apprehended by nearby officers following a short pursuit on foot.

Police said the suspect will be questioned Wednesday morning, as the victim lies in hospital in criticial condition. Doctors fear for his life.
