MONTREAL -

The provincial Surete de Quebec police are investigating an incident in which a man died after barricading himself in a home at 921 Agnes St. in St. Henri Thursday afternoon.

Montreal police came to the home on the small street in St. Henri around 4:30 p.m. in response to a call concerning a man who had barricaded himself inside his home and was reportedly suicidal.

The man was eventually brought to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Montreal police have handed the dossier to the provincial SQ in an effort to maximize transparency, according to Montreal police representative Dany Richer.

Amateur Montreal crime blogger Felix Fournier, who was videotaping the scene moments after the incident, told CTV Montreal that neighbours said that the man was tasered by police but it was unclear what caused his death.
