MONTREAL- Whole grains are indispensable to healthy eating. They are low in fat, high in fibre and chock full of nutrients.

Increasingly popular quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wah), for example, is high in protein and calcium.

It is a tiny grain that comes in a variety of colours. It is available in health food stores and in the organic section of most grocery stores. It cooks up fluffy and a little crunchy and is delicious in a salad with a light vinaigrette.

Susan Semenak came into the CTV Montreal studios to demonstrate a few recipes.
