Police have arrested a 34-year-old man suspected of killing one person and beating two others with a hammer.
The first attacks reported were between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, as a man with a hammer randomly attacked two people in Laval.
The victims, a 41-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, were taken to hospital and are expected to survive.
Shortly afterward police were called to an appliance store on Arthur-Sauve Blvd. where a man was smashing car windows in the area. Upon their arrival, the suspect broke into the store. He was tasered and taken to hospital for treatment.
While going through this man's possessions, police found identification belonging to a 19-year-old man who had been reported missing earlier that day.
Around 1:45 Wednesday morning the teenager's body was found between two homes on 20th St. near 35th Ave. The young victim had been beaten to death with a hammer.
Laval police are trying to determine if there is any connection between the suspect and the three victims.
Officer Franco Di Genova said the suspect has a history of violence.
"There's also information that our investigators told me just a few hours ago, information that they have when the investigation started early this morning, that the suspect was also seen in the Laval sur la Lac area last evening," said Di Genova.
"Anyone that lives in the Laval sur la Lac area, if you saw this gentleman with a hammer in his hand, or if you saw him running after somebody even though he didn't hit anybody, to let us know. It's very important."
On Wednesday afternoon Laval police confirmed they had found the weapon used in the attacks lying in a backyard.
The suspect is expected to be charged with murder at the Laval courthouse on Thursday.
