The city of Laval has lifted a water advisory which had been in effect since Tuesday.

Homes in Chomedey, Laval Ouest, St. Dorothee, Fabreville, Laval Les Îles, Laval sur le Lac and the part of Laval des Rapides east of Highway 15, south of the 440 and west of train tracks were advised to boil their water for at least one minute, as low water levels had led sediment to enter the water supply.

Residents were told not to drink or cook with the water, wash food or objects destined for babies or children in the water, and to avoid brushing their teeth and rinsing their mouths.

Laval also asked residents to reduce their use of water for outdoor activities.

The problem, according to the news release, was a drop in water pressure at the Chomedey water treatment facility, an incident the city says was out of its control.

The advisory was listed early Wednesday afternoon.
