A 47-year-old man was gunned down overnight on Leblanc St., near Prieur, in the north end of the city at around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving several calls relating to gunfire and arrived to find the man dead in front of a home on a quiet residential street not far from Henri Bourassa and St. Michel.

Police have no suspects and no description of any vehicle possibly involved in the crime.

The murder is the 30th homicide on the island of Montreal, a total slightly down from the 33 recorded at this time last year.

There has, however, been a recent spike in killing through the city in recent days, as five people have been killed since late Wednesday.

The victim in this homicide was known to police.
