Peacekeepers in Kahnawake arrested a local male on Sunday after the hospital in the community received a shooting threat.

Police in the Kanien'kehà:ka (Mohawk) community south of Montreal said the hospital received a call from someone on Saturday threatening to enter the hospital and start shooting.

“They locked their facility down right away, and we took up a perimeter,” said PK spokesperson Kyle Zachary.

Investigators then traced the call and arrested the suspect on Sunday at a residence in the community.

There were no injuries and no suspect ever entered the hospital, Zachary said.

The suspect is being held and will appear in court on uttering death threats, harassment and other charges.
