Construction workers building the French superhospital are back on the job Thursday after a wildcat strike Wednesday.

Hundreds of employees left the CHUM construction site Wednesday because of the high temperatures.

A union spokesperson said that some areas inside the building reached 40 degrees, and that three workers were treated for heatstroke, although this could not be confirmed with independent sources.

After the walkout, management and representatives from the Quebec Federation of Labour, as well as the workplace health and safety board (CNESST) met to discuss what could be done.

Temperatures for the next week are forecast to reach highs of 21 to 26 degrees.
