A former Montrealer has been sentenced in Texas for murdering his son and attempting to kill his daughter.

Predrag Perisic pleaded guilty earlier this year to the 2010 shootings of his children, Deyan and Danyela, who were 10 and 12 at the time of the attack.

Perisic and his family had lived in St. Laurent for several years before Perisic and his wife divorced.

Vera Vucerakovich and the children moved to Texas in 2009 in a failed attempt to reconcile, and when the three returned to Montreal, a court ordered the children to return to Texas.

In October 2010, Quebec Quebec Court ruled the children should return to Canada to stay with their mother.

That's when Perisic apparently pulled Deyan and Danyela out of their Texas school and went into hiding.

In December 2010 authorities in Texas learned Perisic was living and they went to his home -- at which point Perisic fired about a dozen bullets, killing his ten year old son and injuring his 12-year-old daughter.

He was arrested on the spot.

In October 2012 Perisic pleaded guilty to the shootings, and this past Friday a judge sentenced Perisic to two concurrent 99-year sentences for his crimes. He is eligible for parole in about 40 years.

Vucerakovich and her daughter were in court for the sentencing.
