A fire that broke out Thursday morning in a building under renovation in Montreal was quickly brought under control.

The fire began at 6:20 a.m. in the basement of 3917 St. Denis St., a three-storey building that has commercial space on the ground floor and apartments above.

Nobody was present when the fire began, but while that is often a sure sign of arson, this time firefighters believe an electrical flaw sparked the fire.

Crews needed 30 minutes to get the fire under control, and extinguished it soon after that.
