Gas leak slows traffic on 111 Avenue Friday night

Drivers were asked to avoid 111 Avenue near 110 Street due to a gas leak on Friday night.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) said the leak was called in at 4:44 p.m.

Six fire crews, a HAZMAT unit, multiple police cruisers and ATCO vehicles could be seen in the area several hours later outside a boarded up home.

No information was given on if anyone was evacuated due to the leak. EFRS said no injuries were reported.

The incident caused some traffic issues on 111 Avenue. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

No information was given on how long crews were expected to remain in the area.
