MONTREAL - Some 16,000 chickens died in a fire that destroyed a barn in Chesterville, Eastern Townships, Thursday morning.
All of the fowl inside perished as a result of the blaze, which started in a nearby house at around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
The building is a total loss.
SQ representative Aurélie Guindon said that the fire was the result of an accident.
Chesterville is a town of about 1,000 and sits 130 kilometres northeast of Montreal.
