LAVAL -- Five weeks after a driver crashed through the front of a daycare in Laval, it reopened Monday.

A three-year-old girl was seriously injured on Nov. 12 when an 81-year-old women plowed into the plate-glass window of the Face-a-Face daycare in a strip mall at 555 St. Martin Blvd. West in the Chomedey district.

The girl, who suffered facial injuries, is recovering at home after the incident. Two other children also suffered less serious injuries, and are recovering.

Police said no charges will be laid against the elderly driver, saying she mixed up her accelerator with the brake pedal.

A surveillance camera confirms the woman overcorrected while turning.

Police have requested the driver fill out medical forms with the SAAQ, the province's automobile insurance board. She will also have her driving ability evaluated, but for now she will be permitted to keep her licence.
