MONTREAL - A 22-year-old man is recovering in hospital after his compact car was blindsided by a large truck at the intersection of St. Charles Blvd. and Ste. Marie, just south of Highway 40 near 3 a.m. Saturday.

The driver was alone in his vehicle, driving south on St. Charles, when for reasons unknown, he was hit by the truck at the intersection.

He was found to be unconscious after the crash but his condition has subsequently stabilized under medical care.

Investigators believe that inattention might have caused him to drive through a red light, resulting in the collision.
