Share

Around 90 firefighters are at an apartment building in Dorval on Montreal's West Island after a fire broke out on the fifth floor of a seven-storey building.

Montreal fire department (SIM) spokesperson Patrick Fournel said a call came in at 10 a.m. for the blaze on Dorval Avenue near Lakeshore Drive.

He said the building was evacuated, and six people were treated for smoke inhalation.

One person was sent to hospital for treatment.

It's still too soon to say when residents may be able to return to their homes, he added.
