MONTREAL - A teenaged boy has died after being hit by a car in NDG.

Montreal police say a car hit the 17-year-old cyclist when he ran a red light at the intersection of St. Jacques St. and Ste. Anne de Bellevue Blvd. early Wednesday afternoon.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered severe head trauma and died several hours after the collision.

The 25-year-old female car driver was treated in hospital for shock, while two witnesses to the crash were treated on the scene by Urgences Santé.

The incident occurs one day after a 56-year-old cyclist died when he was struck by a cement truck at the corner of Notre-Dame St. and Frontenac St. on Tuesday morning.

Four Montreal cyclists have been killed in collisions with cars so far this year.

In 2010, a total of six bicycle riders died in crashes with motor vehicles.
