An 80-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a car Sunday morning along Highway 344 in Saint-Placide in the Laurentians.
The cyclist appears to have been headed westbound and was struck while facing perpendicular on the side of the road, as if preparing to cross. The driver, a 75-year-old woman, could not react quickly enough to avoid a collision. She was treated for shock.
The rider was declared dead at the scene.
Police will launch an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Two other men drowned in the same area Sunday after their boat capsized in Lake of Two Mountains.
This comes after a recent rash of cycling collisions in the Montreal area.
