Police are investigating a car crash that snapped the base off one hydro pole and severely damaged another.

Around 1:30 a.m. in Pierrefonds a driver lost control of his car, zooming across Gouin Blvd. into the two poles.

The car came to a halt in the middle of Gouin near Pierre Lauzon St. with several tires missing.

The occupants, both in their forties, were badly hurt, with the female passenger suffering worse injuries than the male driver, although both are expected to survive.

Police suspect the driver was going too fast and may have had too much alcohol.

Gouin Blvd. will be closed from Sunnybrooke Blvd. through to Lalande Blvd. until noon while crash reconstruction crews do their work.
