Montreal Mayor Michael Applebaum announced Friday that all companies that confessed at the Charbonneau Commission of having participated in bid-rigging will be barred from city contracts for the next five years.

Applebaum said that his administration will enforce a policy adopted in December 2012 to exclude those companies, which include the Dessau engineering firm, among others.

Regardless of any immunity offered by the Charbonneau Commission, the confessions recorded in those hearings will be enough to make a company ineligible to bid for city contracts, said Applebaum.
