Fatality on Innisfil’s GO train line

A person was fatality struck by a train in Innisfil Monday night.

Few details have emerged; however, reports indicate there was stoppage at Innisfil’s Line 7 and the 20th Sideroad at the south GO station.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene to assist in the incident.

Metrolinx released a statement indicating riders were brought by shuttle to the Bradford GO Station.

“We are deeply saddened by the fatality that occurred yesterday evening on the Barrie GO line,” said Andrea Ernesaks, senior manager with media relations at Metrolinx.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of this individual, and with our employees and first responders that were affected by this event.”

Ernesaks said Metrolinx has offered support to both our personnel and customers who require counselling.
