A 15-year-old boy could face attempted murder charges following a stabbing in Lasalle Saturday night.

The boy is suspected to have stabbed 18-year-old Morteza Qarji on the second floor of a duplex on Radisson St. near 90th Ave. at about 11:30 p.m.

A fight broke out at a party in the home when the incident occurred

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds to his leg. Friends told CTV Montreal that he is recovering in hospital.

His life is not in danger.

Police won't say whether or not Qarji knew his attacker, who can not be named because he is a minor.

"Police were able to meet with people who saw the altercation. They got a good description of the suspect, and police arrested the 15-year-old man," said Jean-Pierre Brabant of the Montreal police.

The teenager could face very serious charges, including attempted murder.

He was arrested at his home near the crime scene thanks to information provided by witnesses.

Police won't say what motivated the suspect to commit the crime.

A neighbour who knows the young suspect's family said she was surprised by the arrest.

"It's very quiet here usually so I was really surprised to see blood in the driveway," said the woman, who chose to remain anonymous.

Police spent Sunday interrogating the suspect, who is expected to appear in court Monday.
