MONTREAL - A 32-year-old woman has died after her car fell off an overpass on Highway 30, about 10:10 a.m. Thursday in Vaudreuil-Dorion, west of Montreal.

The driver, traveling eastbound, had lost control of her vehicle for an unknown reason.

The car hit the embankment and was thrown over the wall and landed top-down about 10 metres below onto Hardwood Blvd.

Firefighters helped police remove the woman from the car. She was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, according to Quebec provincial police representative Ingrid Asselin and pronounced dead some time after.

Harwood remained closed for some time following the accident, as did the eastbound lane of Highway 30.
