The Mercier Bridge access ramps to and from Chateauguay will be closed to traffic this weekend for roadwork, meaning detours for motorists.

The closures will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.

While the roadwork is underway, drivers will be able to access Highway 138 by taking the La Prairie exit ramp and Highway 132 to Highway 30 towards Chateauguay.

Motorists leaving Chateauguay will be able use the Highway 138 detour road that has been open since the beginning of the summer.

Transports Quebec is encouraging people to take public transit during the construction period, or use other South Shore bridges.

However, two out of three southbound lanes on the Champlain Bridge are closed at night. As an alternative, motorists can use the Jacques-Cartier and Victoria Bridges from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
