A video shot and edited by a Terrebonne woman has gone viral, warnings about the dangers of texting and driving.
Last month, 27-year-old Andree-Anne Faucher began working on a project she'd been thinking about for roughly a year, making a video supposed to make people think twice about texting and driving.
Based on a true story, Faucher lost her young cousin in a car accident last year. His girlfriend was pregnant when he died.
“In one second, everything can stop. It's not just your life; it's the lives of everyone around you that can be shaken,” said Faucher, who said she was also touched by news reports on Emy Brochu, who died behind the wheel last January while texting her boyfriend.
The video shows Faucher playing the role of a young woman who's texting her boyfriend while he's driving. She's excited, wanting to surprise him with the results of a pregnancy test when he gets home. Just like the tragedy that struck her cousin, he never makes it.
Faucher posted the video on her Facebook page just before Christmas.
The video quickly went viral and has since been viewed by over 30,000 people.
“I could never have imagined that I'd have such an impact on people,” she said. “Every day, I get emails from people saying, ‘Thank you.’”
Faucher developed the idea, shot and edited the video herself. The shooting proved a challenge, since she was also playing the main role.
Faucher said the hard work was worth it.
“I accomplished what I wanted to. I wanted to show all the collateral damage such an event can cause,” she said.
