A vigil to remember Cédrika Provencher was held Saturday afternoon at Chapais Park in Trois Rivieres, not far from where the little girl was last seen on July 31, 2007.

Members of Cédrika’s family, her community and even her Scout troop, took part in the event that began at 4 p.m. The candlelit vigil included songs and prayers read for the family, serving as an emotional release a week after the girl's remains were found.

It was organized by two women who aided in the original search efforts for the missing nine-year-old girl.

A prayer service was also held at the Our Lady of the Cape Shrine Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Cédrika’s remains were found last Friday in a wooded area of Saint-Maurice, only 15 kilometres away from where she disappeared.

A week after the discovery, the Sûreté du Québec is continuing to search for clues in hopes of tracking down a murder suspect.

Last week, as many as 200 police officers were on the scene, hoping to find something that would lead to solving the case that gripped the province in 2007.

So far, police have said they are satisfied with the state of the search, but have no new details to reveal about the case.
