A man and a woman arrested in connection with a double homicide in Vaudreuil-Dorion are now facing first-degree murder charges.

Over the weekend the Sureté du Quebec said the force was searching for Richard Hunt, 38, and Melanie Binette, 28, as important witnesses to the shooting deaths of Joseph Fluet and Steven Lamarsh.

Hunt and Binette were arrested Monday evening in Vaudreuil and in St-Lazare with the help of the SWAT team and homicide investigators.

They are facing one charge each of first-degree murder after appearing in court Tuesday afternoon. They both also face an attempted murder charge for a third person. SQ spokesperson Ingrid Asselin told The Canadian Press the third victim was injured during the same event and is expected to survive.

Hunt and Binette both have convictions for a variety of drug-related crimes.

Last week Fluet and Lamarsh were shot and killed in a field in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Fluet had ties to the Rock Machine gang.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crimes to call 1-800-659-4264.
