The permanent anti-corruption unit is raiding engineering firms in Laval for the second time this week.

50 officers from the Surete du Quebec descended on the companies at 7 a.m. Thursday to execute search warrants.

They are looking for evidence of financial malpractice, especially in connection with municipal or provincial construction projects.

So far police have only confirmed one location for Thursday's raids: Filiatrault, McNeil & Associates Inc. on Saint-Martin Blvd. West.

Anne-Frederique Laurence, a spokesperson for UPAC, said that police do not expect to arrest anyone in this series of raids, but they will question numerous employees and other persons of interest.

Earlier this week UPAC raided the offices of four engineering companies in Laval that have won numerous construction contracts in Montreal, Laval, and on the provincial level.
