There is now official confirmation from Quebec officials that Arthur Porter is dead.

UPAC, the province’s anti-corruption squad, sent investigators to Panama this week and in a statement on Tuesday, UPAC said there is positive visual identification of Porter's body to confirm death.

DNA tests and fingerprint analysis were also carried out.

News of Porter’s death on June 30 had been greeted with skepticism by some in Quebec.

Porter had been facing fraud charges in Canada in connection with the MUHC corruption scandal.
